  10.        This release note describes patch SG0003700 to IRIX
  11.        6.5/6.5.1/6.5.2/6.5.3/6.5.4/6.5SE.
  12.  
  13.        This patch contains the IRIX 6.5.5 versions of the
  14.        installation tools inst, swmgr, showfiles and showprods.
  15.        Therefore, IRIX 6.5.5 itself will replace this patch.
  16.  
  17.        If you are using the "live installation" method to upgrade
  18.        from any 6.5-based release to another 6.5-based release,
  19.        Silicon Graphics recommends that you first install this
  20.        patch to take advantage of the most up-to-date installation
  21.        tools.

  23.        This patch is also useful to install on any 6.5-based
  24.        release to take advantage of bug fixes made to the
  25.        installation tools (see below.)

  34.        This patch contains bug fixes for the IRIX Base Execution
  35.        Environment.  This patch is made to install on a system
  36.        running IRIX 6.5, IRIX 6.5.1, IRIX 6.5.2, IRIX 6.5.3, IRIX
  37.        6.5.4 or IRIX 6.5SE.  The software cannot be installed on
  38.        other configurations.

  40.        1.3  _B_u_g_s__F_i_x_e_d__b_y__P_a_t_c_h__S_G_0_0_0_3_7_0_0

  42.        This patch replaces and rolls-up patches 3262, 3384, 3505,
  43.        and 3622 and contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX
  44.        6.5, 6.5.1, 6.5.2, 6.5.3, 6.5.4 or IRIX 6.5SE.  Bug numbers
  45.        from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system are included for
  46.        reference.

  109.             numerous installation conflicts, and can prevent
  110.             correct installation of the overlay release (such as
  111.             IRIX 6.5.2) in the client tree.

  114.             conflicts unless the "install prereqs" and "keep
  115.             incompleteoverlays" commands are used.  In this version
  116.             of inst and Software Manager, the "standard" keyword

  118.             "incompleteoverlays".  In addition this version of inst
  119.             recognizes two special commands "install maint" and
  120.             "install feature" to make it easier to switch between
  121.             streams.  Software Manager has equivalent menu items on
  122.             the Install menu.

  208.        Inst will automatically select all patches that apply to
  209.        your system.  However, it is a good idea to review the
  210.        selected patches to determine what will be installed on the
  211.        system, and what bugs will be fixed.

  213.        If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
  214.        notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
  215.        meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
  216.        _i_n_s_t.  The _i_n_s_t program does not allow you to install
  217.        patches that are incompatible with your hardware or
  218.        software.

  220.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  221.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
  222.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot
  223.        form of the software installation tools.

  225.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  227.          1.  At the Inst> prompt, type

  274.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  275.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  276.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  277.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
